Blessed Margaret Family Help Center, Inc.
Because the Blessed Margaret Center is about helping families and not just those with addictions, I was approached by a young mother of seven whose husband had decided that spending his money on gambling was more important than paying his bills, in order to provide her with a prayer for her and her children to say for her husband. I composed "The Lazarus Prayer" in response to this woman's request. It is presented below and is intended for all families of addicts to say for the conversion of their beloved ones.
O most merciful and loving Jesus, who didst travel to the home of Lazarus to restore physical life to him after he lay dead in the tomb for four days in response to the fervent pleas of his loving sisters, Mary and Martha, we humbly but fervently pray, with tears in our eyes and sorrow in our hearts, that Thou wouldst travel to our home and restore life to our own beloved Lazarus, who lies spiritually dead in the tomb of his (her, their) addiction(s). Free him (her, them) from the death of his (her, their) hook(s), restore the life of grace to him (her, them), and restore him (her, them) to his (her, their) rightful place in our home.
O Virgin Mary, Mother of Mercy and Comforter of the Afflicted, add thy voice to our prayer and provide comfort to our family in its sorrow.
Amen.
